Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Before your first visit we have you fill out a health history and then gather information about your current symptoms and concerns. During the first visit we review your health history and gain even more insight into how your body is functioning. Then you will be assessed using Nutrition Response Testing® to determine what your body needs to support your health recovery.
Nutrition Response Testing is a non-invasive system of analyzing the body in order to determine the underlying causes of ill health. When these are corrected through safe, natural, nutritional means, the body can repair itself in order to attain and maintain more optimum health. Nutrition Response Testing is very precise and scientific.
Like an electro-cardiograph machine monitoring electrical energy in your heart, with Nutrition Response Testing, instead of connecting electrodes to the areas being tested, the Nutrition Response Testing practitioner contacts these areas with his/her own hand. With the other hand, he/she will test the muscle of your extended arm. If the organ/area being contacted is “active” the nervous system will respond by reducing energy to the extended arm, and the arm will weaken and drop. This drop signifies underlying stress or dysfunction, which can be affecting your health.
After a Nutrition Response Testing analysis for him or her, we found the “active” organs/areas, and then made specific nutritional recommendations to help the body return to an improved state of health. Most importantly, the person is following through on our recommendations.
Designed Clinical Nutrition is not ‘over-the-counter’ vitamins. Over-the-counter vitamins are pharmaceutically engineered chemical fractions of vitamin structures reproduced in a laboratory. Because they are not made from whole foods, “over-the-counter” vitamins are not “genuine replacement parts” as they lack many of the essential elements normally present in WHOLE foods. Vitamins that are being used all over today generally only need to have a small percentage of their actual content derived from natural sources to be labeled “natural”. If they are not derived from whole foods, they often make you even more deficient and nutritionally out-of-balance. They can create other health problems because they do not contain all of the co-factors found in nature that make the vitamins work.
Many people we see in our practice have eaten themselves into their current state of ill-health, to one degree or another. The deficiencies or imbalances lead to a breakdown in resistance, or immunity, and a loss of the ability to cope with environmental stresses (food, immune, chemical or otherwise). Each cell, tissue, and organ in your body is in the process of replacing itself every day, month, and year. The health of each organ is dependent on making the correct nutrients available to upgrade or to maintain the health of the body at a cellular level. So, yes, the good news is that it is possible to reverse the process!
In medical practice there are two key parts: the diagnosis (identifying and / or naming the “disease” or syndrome) and the treatment (drugs, surgery, etc.). In Nutrition Response Testing we do not diagnose or treat disease - but we also have two parts: the analysis (the assessment of your body's current health status) and the personalized health improvement program (using designed clinical nutrition). Simply put, first we do an analysis, and then we design a natural health improvement program to help you handle what we find in our analysis of your body and condition.
Yes! We assist children from day of birth to teenagers and into adulthood. We believe it is key for children to start learning and implementing a clean diet with whole food nutrition and supplementation in order to handle their body’s nutritional needs and help stop the continuous cycle of dis-ease and health issues that occur and pass on through each generation. We highly recommend that the parent also be on a program with us as any food eliminations needed are easier to manage if the parent is also going through the process. This also aids in improved and timely results.
Unfortunately no, as most insurance companies do not cover nutrition and natural wellness. However, many of our health care participants use their Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Flex Spending Accounts (FSA) and some have been reimbursed through their insurance company after submitting their receipts. We recommend you check with your insurance company/provider in advance to ensure that our services are accepted for reimbursement.
Not one person is the same as another, therefore everyone heals at their own pace. We do not provide a “quick fix” or chase symptoms, but rather specialize in getting to the root cause of these symptoms. Before a symptom appears, the body typically is not at an optimal state, therefore the body may have been not at its best for a long time before you even noticed. It does take same time to obtain long-lasting, sustainable healing at the cellular level. In our experience, depending on our health care participants current health status, can expect at least 6 months to 2 years to reach and maintain optimal health. During this time, the frequency of your sessions are dependent on the body’s ability to heal as well as your effort in following the recommendations and avoiding stressors that are causing dis-ease to your body.
